August 16: Deadline to Choose Online or In-Person Learning

Online In-person

Edmonton Catholic Schools’ families have until Monday, August 16 to make a final decision between online and in-person learning for the 2021-2022 school year. Students choosing online learning will only have one opportunity to return to in-person learning at their community school – February 1, 2022,  the start of the second semester.

2021-2022 School Year

For the 2021-2022 school year, online elementary and junior high students will attend Genesis Catholic Online Elementary/Junior High School. Online high school students will attend St. Joseph Online Catholic High School.

For our junior high and high school students who are returning to in-person learning for the second semester, it is important to realize course choices for a return to in-person learning will be reflective of space and resources available at their community school and may be limited.

To Change your Learning Choice

You can change your selection from online to in-person learning or in-person to online learning, from now until Monday, August 16. Please email and ensure the name of your school and your child’s full name are included in the subject line.

Families were asked to indicate a learning environment for their child/children in March. If your intentions have not changed, no action is required.

Important Dates:

  • Monday, August 16 – Deadline for changing a learning choice made in March.
  • Wednesday, September 1 – First day of school
  • January 2022 – Students who were registered for online learning will have the opportunity to return to their community school for the start of semester two. This will be the only opportunity to switch to in-person learning.
  • Tuesday, February 1 – First day of semester two
