Catholic Education Sunday

Catholic Education Sunday is Sunday, November 7, 2021.

'I will restore you to health and heal your wounds, declares the Lord'

Jeremiah 30:17

A message from Chief Superintendent Robert Martin:

This Sunday, November 7, is Catholic Education Sunday. The Bishops of Alberta and the Northwest Territories have chosen the theme Catholic Education: Rebuild, Restore, Renew Together.  In their pastoral letter, they reflect on the work of all those who serve in Catholic education, noting that, “The many acts of sacrificial love made for the sake of our students give witness to our faith, and serve to rebuild, restore and renew Catholic education.”

We are truly blessed in Alberta to have publicly funded Catholic education. This Sunday provides us with the perfect opportunity to reflect upon and share stories of how Catholic education and the people who serve in its name have enriched our lives and the experiences of our families!

Trustee Blessing

This Sunday, after the 10:30 Mass at St. Joseph Basilica, Archbishop Smith will bless our Trustees as they begin their new term as advocates for and stewards of our Division. You can watch the livestream; options for viewing are found here.

Home-School-Parish Relationship

Ahead of Catholic Education Sunday, the Archdiocese of Edmonton put a video spotlight on a new program connecting parishes and schools at Bishop David Motiuk School. It's an excellent example of the valuable work that our bishops encourage in their letter for this year's Catholic Education Sunday.

As we prepare for Catholic Education Sunday, please join us in a Journey with St Joseph.
The Novena, prayed from October 28 - November 5, can be found here.
