Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC)

LINC Overview

The Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) program was developed by Citizenship and Immigration Canada in 1992 to provide free and easy access for adult immigrants, to learn one of Canada's official languages.
 
 

Eligible Students

Students must be landed immigrants (PR Card) or refugees. Students with work visas, student visas or tourist visas are not eligible for LINC Programs.  Eligible students are anybody of legal school-leaving age in Alberta.
 
 

Pre-Registration into the LINC Program

Prior to registering for a LINC Program, students will need to complete an assessment at Catholic Social Services (8212- 118 Avenue, Telephone 780-424-3545). 
Upon completing the assessment they will receive a LINC Card.  Students are required to present this card when registering.
