In 2007 Edmonton Catholic Schools formed a partnership with Junior Achievement to ensure that our students could benefit from the learning opportunities that Junior Achievement offers. Junior Achievement learning experiences help young people discover leadership, entrepreneurial, and workforce readiness skills so they can achieve their highest potential and future successes as citizens in the global community.
The in-school Junior Achievement programs begin in grade 3 and run to grade 9 with volunteers from local businesses sharing their knowledge and experiences so that our students understand and appreciate the role business plays in the day-to-day lives of all Edmontonians. The grade 9 Junior Achievement Company Program Option shows students how to participate in entrepreneurial business ventures where they can learn first-hand both the trials and the rewards of running their own business.
In 2010 St. Alphonsus School Elementary/Junior High School
, in collaboration with Junior Achievement, created the Junior Achievement Leadership Centre which includes a Boardroom/Classroom to facilitate the delivery of all the grades 3-9 programs with the result that Junior Achievement has become an integral part of the St. Alphonsus school community.
