Dual Credit - Hospitality Training Brochure

Here is an opportunity to get started on your future in the service industry.  There will be a need for Service Industry jobs in the new Arena District, so here is an opportunity to get some training that will prepare you for future employment. You may start exploring your interests by enrolling in the dual credit opportunity of Hospitality Training, in partnership with NorQuest College.  Edmonton Catholic Schools is offering 4 courses – Introduction to the Service Industry, Concession Worker, Server / Host / Suite Attendant and Food Safety Training Basics.  Upon completion of the courses, you will be able to engage in a Service Industry Skills Program Work Experience practicum experience, which will give you hands-on experience in the service industry. You will receive Certificates of Completion from NorQuest College for each of the courses upon successful completion.

Service Industry CourseDescription

Introduction to the Service Industry

XBUS2002

This mandatory introductory course will introduce students to the service industry in the areas:

  • Service industry operations
  • Safe and clean work environment
  • Guest service relations

Server / Host / Suite Attendant

XBUS2003

This course focuses on different and unique ways to raise the bar in guest services and how to turn a one-time visitor into a regular ticket holder, There will be discussion about best practices through practical hands-on instruction. 

Concession Worker

XBUS 2004

This course teaches students the overall operation of the concession stand, how to assist in the food production and monitor overall quality, quantity and presentation. 

 

Food Safety Training Basics

XBUS2008

 

This food safety course is designed for employee-level training in Canada.  It will teach students to understand the importance of food safety and handling.

 

HIGH SCHOOL CREDIT

Students will receive CTS credits for the Service Hospitality Courses and Work Experience Practicum.
