Reconciliation Week - May 28th to June 3rd
"The residential school experience is one of the darkest, most troubling chapters in our collective history." — Justice Murray Sinclair, Chair of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission
The work of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission has highlighted the importance that all Canadians understand the implications of the historical oppression of our indigenous peoples. It is through this building of understanding that Canadian society will be able to have true reconciliation with our indigenous peoples and move forward in creating stronger relationships for a better Canada.
Edmonton Catholic Schools has always been highly committed to serving our First Nations, Métis, and Inuit (FNMI) families, and to increasing the knowledge and understanding of FNMI culture and contributions to our society for our general school populations. This work is guided by the Edmonton Catholic Schools’ Council of Elders.
