Internet Access for Disadvantaged Families
Please note: A government initiative that would assist disadvantaged families in accessing the internet. If you know any families who might benefit from this program, please pass on the information below. Families would require a letter from the Government of Canada verifying that they have a net income below $31,120.
The program is called Internet For Good. Here is an example from one internet provider: https://www.telus.com/en/about/company-overview/community-investment/how-we-give/cause-campaigns/internet-for-good
Our understanding is that families would be sent a letter from the Government with an access code and they would pay $9.99 a month. https://www.connecting-families.ca/welcome
As far as we are aware, there is no specific response to COVID from internet providers or government in terms of access for disadvantaged students. This is an existing program. As appropriate, please share with your families.
