A 16-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy were killed and three others were wounded Thursday morning in a high school shooting at Saugus High School in Santa Clarita California, about 30 miles north of Los Angeles.
Today, we pray for the victims and survivors of the school shooting. We stand in solidarity with the young people who face a long journey of recovery from their injuries and traumatic experiences. May they find comfort in their families, friends, and community.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of Holy Spirit.
Almighty God, we come to you with open hearts and minds to pray for the victims and survivors of this terrible tragedy. We ask for peace in Santa Clarita; to restore trust and to instill in the hearts of its people the readiness to forgive.
Through the intercession of our Most Blessed Mother, we pray together: Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
Thank you to Sandra Talarico for preparing our prayer.
