Crescamus In Christum - Let Us Grow Into Christ
It is hard to believe that it will soon be a year when our beloved Shepherd, Archbishop Joseph MacNeil went to rest in the light of God’s face. He was the leader of our Archdiocese for 26 years, and for many of us he was the face of our sacramental lives, having conferred both first communion and confirmation upon us. He was a great spokesperson for the Catholic community. He believed that the Church had a credible message for society and did not hesitate to speak to government officials, the business world, academics and other community leaders about this great news.
Archbishop MacNeil taught us to use our lives to proclaim that God is good, and that we are called to grow together in Christ. His leadership illustrated the importance to serve others always in all you do, and to love everyone. Let us all thank God for the gift of love that we received through our Shepherd’s life!
But speaking the truth in love, we must grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and knitted together by every ligament with which it is equipped, as each part is working properly, promotes the body’s growth in building itself up in love.
