John is currently serving his second term representing Ward 75.  He was elected in 2010 and re-elected in 2013.

Professional History
John's education background includes a Bachelor of Physical Education Degree, Master's in Education, Doctorate of Philosophy, Elementary Education Diploma, and Vocational Counseling Diploma. 

 John's background includes the following:
  • As a former teacher and administrator, John has held many positions with Edmonton Catholic Schools including teacher, psychologist, Human Resources/Staff Development Officer, Program Services Superintendent, and Area Superintendent.
  • John's career in education includes Superintendent with Hinton Catholic School District and Mother Earth Charter School, a post-secondary lecturer at the University of Alberta, and visiting Professor at the University of Ottawa.
  • He was a member of the U of A President's Advisory Committee on Campus Renewal: Departments of Secondary Education and Graduate Studies (Education)
  • John was President of the Education Society of Edmonton and President of the Education Alumni Association
  • Outside of the education system, John was the Executive Director of the Edmonton Police Commission, and has been involved with the Catholic Archdiocese of Edmonton in various capacities including authoring the Transformation of Parish document: Faithful Into The Future
  • John has participated in numerous professional engagements including Chair of the Advanced Education Minister's Advisory Committee on Technology Funding, Director: Western Canada Educational Administrators' Conference, Director ATA CSA Conference
As a Trustee
John served the Board in the capacity of Vice-Chair for the year 2015-2016 and as Chair of the Board Governance & Priorities Committee.

John's Vision/Goal
An authentic education must provide for the students to experience academic growth, moral, growth, and relationship growth. Catholic education is well positioned to achieve all three and in a particular way to achieve the third of these – this through exposing students to a Catholic World View. John's goal is to ensure that Catholic education remains true to its mission.
