Since 1888, religious congregations of women and men have partnered with Edmonton Catholic Schools to provide quality Catholic education for children in Edmonton. Today, women and men religious continue to believe in and support Catholic education. They believe in an education that meets academic needs while providing values and morals necessary for a full and productive life.
Edmonton Catholic Schools is successful in its mission to provide Catholic education which inspires and prepares students to learn, to work, to live fully, and to serve God in one another. The women and men religious of Edmonton have been key partners in fulfilling this mission.
Looking over this past century and a half the question has often been asked, “Why Catholic education? Why integrate faith, life and culture with education?” The answer is the same today as it was in 1888—to help future citizens discern and develop their God-given talents and reach academic success. This has been possible because of the dedicated and gifted women and men religious of our City.
On behalf of Edmonton Catholic Schools, we would like to express our wholehearted appreciation to these women and men of adventure and spirit for all that they have done, and will continue to do, for Catholic education.
