Superintendent's Message - World Teachers' Day

“Let us thank all those who teach in Catholic schools. Educating is an act of love; it is like giving life.”

(Pope Francis, 03/01/14)

World Teachers’ Day is celebrated on October 5 of each year to mark the anniversary of the signing of the 1996 International Labour Organization (ILO)/UNESCO Recommendation Concerning the Status of Teachers.  The Canadian Teachers’ Federation has shared the theme ‘I teach for a better world’ to help us celebrate this year’s World Teachers’ Day.  Our teachers have a special opportunity every day, through each interaction with their students, to help our young people learn, grow, and develop a closer relationship with Christ. In this way, our teachers are shaping a better and brighter future for our world; they are building the Kingdom of God.

Thank you to all our teachers for embracing your special ministry by following in the footsteps of our greatest teacher, Jesus. You teach for a better world!
