We are companions on the journey, breaking bread and sharing life; and in the love we bear is the hope we share for we believe in the love of our God, we believe in the love of our God.
(Companions on the Journey,Carey Landry)
We are truly blessed to be able to gather together as a Catholic educational community to celebrate the Eucharist at the beginning of our new school year. Joining together as members of the Body of Christ at His table nourishes us both as individuals and as a community of believers, and this will help sustain us in our mission to provide a Catholic education that inspires students to learn and that prepares them to live fully and to serve God in one another.
The Archdiocese and the Eparchy make it a priority each year to support us as we recommit ourselves to Catholic education. We are so grateful to have had the opportunity to be ministered to by Archbishop Smith, Bishop Motiuk, Archbishop Lavoie, their brother priests from both rites, and our two District Chaplains, Father Julian Bilyj and Father Glenn McDonald.
There are so many people who have been working diligently for months in order to give us such a beautiful start to our journey of Walking Together in God’s Love. Thank you to the members of the Opening Mass Committee, which is chaired by Floriana Bruni-Bossio, and to our Edmonton Catholic Teachers’ Local 54 for their tremendous work in the huge undertaking of coordinating four simultaneous Masses. Your planning and commitment are much-appreciated.
Thank you to our music ministries, led by Corey Nahayowski, Beth Pecson, Alyssa Tungul, and Andrea Leader. In sharing your gifts, our worship becomes ever more uplifting!
Thank you to all the staff who volunteered to fill the many ministries of the Mass. Your service is invaluable.
And finally, thanks to the staff and communities of St. Charles, Corpus Christi, and St. Thomas More Parishes, and St. Josaphat’s Cathedral for their gracious welcome to our staff.
I wish you all a year filled with the joy and grace that is to be found when we areWalking Together in God’s Love.
