On Monday afternoon, ten people were killed and 15 injured after a van ran down pedestrians along Yonge Street in Toronto. Politicians called for patience as security officials searched for an explanation for the horror and carnage.
Today, we pray for the victims and survivors of the attack, we pray for their families and friends, and we stand in solidarity with those who face a long journey of recovery from their serious injuries and traumatic experiences. May they find solace in their families, friends, and community.
Let us pray: Almighty God, we come to you with open hearts and minds to pray for the victims and survivors of this terrible tragedy. We ask for peace in Toronto, for our nation, and for its people; to keep us away from fear; to instil in our hearts the gift of trust; and to give us the readiness to forgive.
Through the intercession of our Most Blessed Mother, we pray together: Hail Mary… Hail Mary, full of grace. Our Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.Amen.
