Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice in wrongdoing but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends.

~ Corinthians 13:4-8 ~

This beautiful scriptural passage,The Gift of Love, is most often associated with marriage vows, but it is also the perfect description of the love of a father for his children. Father’s Day provides us with the opportunity to celebrate all of the men who are the father figures in our lives and who generously share their patient, kind, hopeful, and enduring love with us.  Theirs is a sacred ministry.  Let us give thanks and pray for them:

Heavenly Father, You entrusted your Son Jesus, the child of Mary, to the care of Joseph, an earthly father. Bless all fathers as they care for their families. Give them strength and wisdom, tenderness and patience; support them in the work they have to do, protecting those who look to them, as we look to you for love and salvation, through Jesus Christ our rock and defender. Amen.
