Chaplain’s Corner (Religion/Celebrations)

Advent is a time of waiting and anticipating the birth of Jesus. During the first week of Advent, which begins on November 27th, the first candle on the Advent Wreath is lit. The four candles on the wreath, three purple and one pink, represent the four weeks of Advent. The first candle represents hope, the second peace, the third candle signified by the color pink represents joy, and the fourth love. Each week a new candle is lit and Advent prayers recited. The circular form of the wreath symbolizes that God is eternal while the green boughs indicate hope and new life. The culmination of our Advent countdown will be a school wide celebration held on Thursday, December 22nd.  The celebration will begin at 10:00 AM. From our LSL family to your family, may you have a wonderful Christmas season.

Social Justice

We have a significant goal this year of creating 30 Christmas hampers that will support our LSL families in need.  From our parents, we are asking for your kind donations of items below organized by your child’s JH homeroom class or SH Block 1 Day 1 course.   We must have these items in no later than December 14 as we will need to shop for and assemble the hampers.

In order to ensure families also receive fresh items with their hampers, a grocery store gift card will also be provided with the hamper.

If parents would like to make monetary donations to the Christmas Hamper fund, you can do so in PowerSchool with the “Christmas Hamper” icon.  Cash donations are also welcome, and we are encouraging students to donate at least $2 each, and can be handed into your child's junior high homeroom or senior high Block 1 Day 1 teacher.
