Our Mission

St. Joseph High School is committed to education excellence, expressed by challenging curriculum, high academic standards, a supportive learning environment and equity in the application of these standards for all students, including those who require additional assistance for learning or those who lack proficiency in English.  Furthermore, St. Joseph is resolved to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who will be positive agents of change in our world through intercultural understanding and respect.  As educators, we pledge to empower all students for future choices and challenges by helping them realize their fullest potential in a unique learning environment.

Religious Education:

All of the Schools in the Edmonton Catholic School District use a Religious Education Program that is prescribed by our Alberta Bishops and provided through the National Office for Religious Education in Ottawa. The Program ranges from Kindergarten to Grade Twelve, and offers students with an overview of our Catholic faith as well as grade specific themes.

Our School Namesake: St. Joseph the Worker

St. Joseph, husband of Mary and foster father of Jesus, was a carpenter and a descendant of King David. He was a compassionate, caring man, devoted to Mary and the child Jesus. Joseph was a man of faith, obedient to whatever God asked of him.

St. Joseph is the patron of the dying, the universal Church, fathers, carpenters, social justice, and is the patron saint of Edmonton and of Canada. His two feast days are March 19, Joseph the Husband of Mary, and May 1, Joseph the Worker.

Scripture identifies him as – "a righteous man" (Matthew 1:18).

For St. Joseph High School, our patron saint is a model to the whole community of students and staff. His faith, work ethic, and devotion to Jesus and Mary are reflected in our school motto, "Palma non sine pulvere", no glory without effort. St. Joseph inspires us to offer programs that meet a variety of student needs and create an atmosphere that celebrates our faith. The environment at St. Joe's permeates with a commitment of loving respect and sense of mission to those whom we serve.
