One of the concepts that we are working on for Grad 2021, is a drive-in event. A large stage would be outdoors at a venue such as at Northlands Expo, with video screens to improve the sight lines and students would walk the stage there, keeping the proper social distance from each other.
The proposal that is currently being examined would have all ECSD high schools share this venue over a 3 to 4-day time frame. In the past, we have rented Grad gowns for our students, but in this model, we are attempting to source gowns that our students would keep, along with the traditional cap and tassel.
There would be opportunity for different speeches from students and staff, as scheduled at previous convocation ceremonies. Right now, this is a concept that is being explored.
There are many moving parts that need to be examined to determine if this is something that is feasible, projecting what the possible COVID protocols might be, in this evolving environment. Everything that we do, must adhere to AHS requirements. By a decision through ECSD senior administration, none of the high schools will plan for banquet component to the graduation package for 2021.
The student grad committee has come up with the concept of "Light After the Dark" as a general focus for grad. We need your suggestions of logo ideas and mottos.
Logo ideas: Sun and Moon - meaning: sun always comes out after the dark night Lit Lantern - meaning: light is guiding the way
Mottos: Without the dark we wouldn't know the warmth of light. We must bring our own light to the darkness.
We are collecting your baby photos. If you would like your baby photo to be included in the Grad slideshow please visit the Grad Google Classroom to submit your baby photo. Your teachers, friends and families love seeing how much you have grown, so we strongly encourage submitting a photo.
If you are interested in ordering grad rings, these are now available. Please see the Grad Google Classroom or clink the link at the top of the page for more info on Grad Rings.
Grad photo retakes are taking place at the Lifetouch studio from March 6 to March 7. The appointment request form can be found on the grad google classroom. A reminder that students MUST pay their grad fee at the business office or through PowerSchool BEFORE requesting an appointment. Appointments will not be confirmed until grad fees are paid. Due to COVID-19, Lifetouch is not providing grad caps to students for these photos. Students will receive a grad cap and 2021 tassel in June for commencements from O'Leary, but we are unable to provide you with one at this time.
