Archbishop MacDonald High School offers a full complement of athletic teams that compete in the Metro Athletic League. At Archbishop MacDonald we strive to develop well rounded student-athletes; we take pride in both our academic and athletic achievements. In recent years, Archbishop MacDonald athletics has produced numerous student- athletes who have gone on to post-secondary varsity athletics including University of Alberta, MacEwan University, Concordia University, Gonzaga (Spokane) University, and Adelphi University (New York). As part of the Archbishop MacDonald athletics program, students have the opportunity to travel to several out of town tournaments throughout Western Canada and international events such as Cuba basketball training and Spokane for the annual Bloomsday run. All of our coaches have specialized certification within their respective sports to help foster student development. With a newly renovated gymnasium, we possess college standard equipment and technology, including a video wall and basketball shooting machine.

Archbishop MacDonald Athletics Update: Sept 22, 2020

Many of you are aware that starting September 21, Metro Athletics will allow schools to create cohorts of up to 50 for scrimmages and training purposes. They are not allowing schools to compete with each other at this time.
We at Archbishop MacDonald have decided not to start our athletics program for the time being. This was not an easy decision but we are putting the safety of our students and teachers before anything else. We are also putting student education before any extra curricular activities. We do not want to add more cohorts for our students and we would like to concentrate our efforts on ensuring Archbishop MacDonald is as safe as possible for everyone and their families.
We will be releasing another statement on October 16th at which time we will re-evaluate.
