Religious Education
All of the Schools in the Edmonton Catholic School District use a Religious Education Program that is prescribed by our Alberta Bishops and provided through the National Office for Religious Education in Ottawa. Growing in Faith, Growing in Christ is a Religious Education program sponsored by the Catholic Bishops of Ontario, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and the Northwest Territories and developed in collaboration with Catholic educators from across Canada.
The program is based on the Catholic Elementary Curriculum Policy Document for Religious Education, Grades 1-8, which has been approved by the aforementioned Catholic Bishops and Regional Assemblies of Bishops. It reflects the content of faith expressed in the Catechism of the Catholic Church and follows the rationale and methodology of the General Directory for Catechesis.
An overview of the program by grade is available: Grade overviews.
This resource is available in print and online. To access the online resource, go to: Growing In Faith Student-Home Page.
Sacramental Preparation
Preparation to receive the sacraments is completed through Annunciation Parish. St. Benedict will relay information from the parish to our school community when it is available. Please check with the parish for more information.
We celebrate all students who receive sacraments. Please let your child's teacher know if he/she has recently received the sacrament of Baptism, First Reconciliation, First Communion, or Confirmation.
