Specialized program for high academic students that are motivated to achieve and enjoy challenges in the subjects Language Arts, Math, Science and Social. Students can can apply to be part of this program.
Complementary courses are divided into three broad subject areas: fine & performing arts, career & technology studies and languages. Students are encouraged to choose courses from each of these three subject areas to ensure a complete and balanced educational program.
Clear student learning outcomes and high learning standards in the ELA program of studies are designed to prepare students for present and future language requirements.
Mathematics is one way of trying to understand, interpret and describe our world. The components are change, constancy, number sense, patterns, relationships, spatial sense and uncertainty.
To become scientifically literate, students must develop a thorough knowledge of science and its relationship to technologies and society. They must also develop the broad-based skills needed to identify and analyze problems; explore and test solutions; and seek, interpret and evaluate information.
Social studies provides opportunities for students to develop the attitudes, skills and knowledge that will enable them to become engaged, active, informed and responsible citizens.
The physical education program emphasizes active living, with a focus on physical activity that is valued and integrated into daily life.
In Catholic schools, students participate in a religious education program that is authorized by the Bishops of Alberta.
