The entry process for any of the Focus Programs offered at St. Rose is based on the criteria outlined in the application process documents. There is a cap of 33 students per class. If over the course of a student's time in an Accelerated and/Honours Program the student displays difficulty with the curriculum, this will be addressed by the teacher and a determination will be made regarding if the student will continue in that Program. The Accelerated and Honours Programs do not allow for acceptance mid-way through the year. The only entry point for the programs is at the beginning of grade seven. 

Other Features

  • Complementary Courses (in grade eight and nine) include: Communication Technology, Computer Science, Film Studies, Music, Art, Foods, Recreation Leadership
  • Technology is used extensively to support learning in the core subjects
  • Religious celebrations throughout school year
  • Grade 9 Day Camp and Grade 7-8 excursions (tentative due to COVID-19)
  • Mandatory second language learning in grade seven: French or Spanish

  • Renovated Foods room
  • Large gymnasium and recently renovated fitness centre
  • Two well-equipped science laboratories, one upgraded to high school standards
  • Learning Coaches (Humanities and Sciences) and ELL Support,
  • Over 30 pieces of original artwork throughout the building

Extracurricular Activities

  • Sports teams include Badminton, Basketball, Cross-Country Running, Soccer, Slo-Pitch, Track and Field and Volleyball
  • Clubs include Student Leadership Team, Games Club, Rainbow Club,and Yearbook
  • Co-curricular activities include mathematics contests, school dances and other activities sponsored by the Student Leadership Team
  • Social justice for the Terry Fox Run, Kids Care program, Edmonton Catholic School Foundation, St.Rose's Annual Winter Clothing Drive to support children in our ECSD schools and Food Drives to support local charities.
