Learner Profile in Pictures for IB’s 50th Anniversary
Artwork: Sipping Tea Artist: Marcus (Grade 5)
“The IB learner profile represents 10 attributes that are central to how IB learners develop and grow as individuals. They are valued by IB World Schools and describe a broad range of human capacities and responsibilities that go beyond academic success. They imply a commitment to help all members of the school community learn to respect themselves, others and the world around them.
For our 50th anniversary, we would like to celebrate this important part of the IB learning experience. And how IB students are constantly encouraged to think independently and creatively.”
Marcus’ Reflection – Inquirers/Knowledgeable
I chose inquirers because it was the one that best describes me. I also chose knowledgeable because I found it incredibly difficult to separate it from inquirers. The multiple arms were inspired by pictures of Indian gods. The objects are sources of knowledge. The bulb is an idea, and the globe shows how inquirers and knowledge shape the world through ideas.
Before I go to middle school, I should inquire into different schools before I make a decision. The same goes for choosing college classes or jobs. Being knowledgeable and an inquirer might also help me win a Nobel Prize!
