Our School NamesakeFor many centuries, people have turned to Mary in times of need. She is the mother of Jesus Christ and she listens to our prayers and gives us the strength and courage to overcome difficulties. The title, “Our Lady of Victories,” is an ancient title–one that was given to Mary by people in many countries throughout Europe. That title traveled to North America with the first European settlers, who often needed and requested Mary’s help to survive in the harsh new land. When our school was built in 1960, it was named “Our Lady of Victories” to remind us that we can ask Mary to intercede for us with her son, Jesus Christ. Mary wants us to have faith when we are troubled. She wants us to be a people of hope. Faith in Mary’s willingness to intercede for us with Jesus Christ can help us through the many difficulties that each of us must face throughout our lives. Through faith in Mary, who is Our Lady of Victories, we can claim victory over the troubles and temptations that come our way.
