Catholic Faith
Our Mission
Rooted in the belief that "with children comes hope", together we use our hearts, hands, and minds to "do small things with great love" within our diverse community to learn and to grow in faith.
Our Vision
Our students will learn together, work together and pray together in answering the call to a faith-filled life of service.
Our Charism
In the tradition of our patron saint, our charism is: intense love does not measure, it just gives.
Sacramental Preparation (if you are a high school please just remove this section):
St. Teresa of Calcutta School is happy to work in partnership with St. Joseph Basilica, Sacred Heart Church of the First Peoples, Santa Maria Goretti and with other parish's in the Catholic Archdiocese to support parents and children in preparing for the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Communion. Sacramental Sessions are offered year round. Please contact the school for more details.
Religious Education:
All of the Schools in the Edmonton Catholic School District use a Religious Education Program that is prescribed by our Alberta Bishops and provided through the National Office for Religious Education in Ottawa. The Program ranges from Kindergarten to Grade Twelve, and offers students with an overview of our Catholic faith as well as grade specific themes.
Our School Namesake: "Mother Teresa"
Our school is named after Mother Teresa (1910-1997) was a Roman Catholic nun, who devoted her life to serving the poor and destitute around the world. She spent many years in Calcutta, India where she founded the Missionaries of Charity, a religious congregation devoted to helping those in great need. In 1979, Mother Teresa was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize and has become a symbol of charitable selfless work. She was beatified in 2003, the first step on the path to sainthood, within the Catholic church.
"It is not how much we do,
but how much love we put in the doing.
It is not how much we give,
but how much love we put in the giving."
– Mother Teresa –
