Superintendent's Message - March 2007

Throughout our district during Lent, schools are participating in Lenten activities that remind our students of the importance of sacrifice, generosity and compassion. Our duty as teachers and parents is to teach our children that Christ’s sufferings were meant to create a better world. Lent, this holiest of liturgical seasons, gives us the opportunity to talk with our children about where life’s journey has already taken us with Christ and how we hope to grow as Christians in the future. Through prayer and reflection we unite as families and school communities in a journey of hope and promise:

“Prayer is a rising and a drawing near to God in mind and in heart, and in spirit.”

The month of March is also the time when students in Grades 6 and 9 and their parents begin making the important decision of where to attend junior and senior high school. I encourage parents and students to participate in Open Houses and learn about the many choices available in our district. You will find a complete list of Open Houses and information sessions on our website.

We ask God’s blessing on our students, staff, and parents as we journey through this special season.

Sincerely,

Joan Carr
Superintendent
