Superintendent's Message - January 2007

One of the most satisfying and enjoyable tasks that I have is to visit the schools in our district. I am always so impressed by the hard work that goes on daily in our schools; administrators who provide leadership to all aspects of learning, teachers implementing effective new strategies to improve student learning and staff members working collaboratively in Christ Centred Professional Learning Communities. All are sharing the responsibility to help students succeed.

When visiting schools, I see a true sense of joy among our staff. I have observed the passion of teachers as they help students in their classrooms, the commitment of office staff as they work with students and parents, the attention given to children by our special needs aides, and the dedicated hands of custodial and maintenance staff as they ensure students have a clean and safe environment.

January marks the beginning of a new year filled with new hopes and challenges while the end of January signals the end of the first semester for most of our high school students. Many of them will be writing challenging provincial diploma examinations at the end of the month. I wish them every success on these examinations.

As we begin the new year, let us thank God for the many blessings and graces we enjoy in our school district.

We ask God to give us the vision to see what is possible and give us the faith for a present that is hopeful and a future that is peaceful - filled with new beginnings and discoveries.

Sincerely,

Joan Carr
Superintendent
