Dear Parents/Guardians:
September 4th was an exciting day in our District as over 32,000 students began or continued their
educational journey with Edmonton Catholic Schools! I hope your child(ren) are now settled into their new
routine as they meet new friends and renew old acquaintances. Our District was also faced with a challenge
early into the school year as a fire caused significant damage to the six portable classrooms at St. Richard
Elementary. I'd like to thank the entire St. Richard School staff and District employees from the Facilities
Services department, for their work to ensure that school was only interrupted for one day.
Our Provincial Achievement Tests and Diploma results for the 2006/07 school year were released publicly
on September 26, 2007. Edmonton Catholic Schools results show continued improvement and we are very
proud of the excellent achievements our teachers and students have attained. Please visit our web site at
www.ecsd.net to review our District results.
Monday, October 15, 2007 is the date of the next Municipal Election. I strongly urge you to familiarize
yourself with all the candidates running for Edmonton Catholic School Trustee by attending one of the
forums for Catholic school trustees that will be held throughout the city or by visiting the City of Edmonton
web site at www.edmontonelection.ca for candidate information. The successful future of our school
district depends on the informed involvement of all parents and stakeholders.
Have a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving!
Sincerely,

Joan Carr
Superintendent
