Programs

Edmonton Catholic Schools programming follows that of Alberta Education , offered within the context of a Catholic Christian community. Curriculum Handbooks and Summaries contain information for parents on subjects, programs and courses available in Catholic schools.

Students attending Edmonton Catholic Schools now have the choice of a variety of new programs, thanks to recommendations generated through a district-wide public consultation process.

Involving more than a quarter of the district's eighty-four schools, the new initiatives include intensive sports and fine arts programming, holistic and globally-focused teaching approaches and other programs that will better serve school communities.

Second language programs

Edmonton Catholic Schools believes in introducing your child to a second language as early as possible, preferably in an "immersion" program. Edmonton Catholic Schools offers many Language Programs for your child. Which language you choose may not really matter, since studying any one of them provides benefits. Acquiring a language is effortless for a young child. They naturally absorb a second language through play and exploration. Students in second language programs see improvement of overall academic performance. Language students often perform better in math and logic skills and are more creative when solving complex problems.

Focus Programs

The District provides students with additional choices to enhance their learning, with all the benefits of a faith-based education. Alternative & Adult Education Services

Alternative & Adult Education Services provides Alternative Educational Opportunities and programs to youth, adults and children within the Edmonton Catholic Schools’ community. The student centred programs are highlighted by the outreach junior and senior high school programs for students (grades 7-12) in need of an alternative delivery model. As society evolves, so must our education system adapt to change and meet the needs of the community we serve. Alternative & Adult Education Services is an integral component of that adaptation and often acts as a bridge between basic education and lifelong learning.

Online Web Courses

Revelation Online has been providing a full senior high online program for more than 6 years. We now serve students nationally and internationally. Students at Revelation Online, benefit from a flexible, customized online learning environment. In addition to helping high school students complete their diplomas, we help adult students get the courses they require for entrance to post-secondary programs.

Outdoor Education Programs

River Valley Programs is a partnership between the City of Edmonton Community Services and Edmonton Catholic Schools. The main objective is to encourage an "I can do" experience through dynamic outdoor activities. We provide outdoor education programs including Biking, Voyageur Canoeing, Archery, Cross Country Skiing, Orienteering and more. Visit River Valley Programs' website for more information.
