"And during supper Jesus
got up from the table, took off his outer robe, and tied a
towel around himself. Then he poured water into a basin and
began to wash the disciples' feet and to wipe them with a
towel."

The goal of Leadership Services is to enhance the leadership capacity
of staff in Edmonton Catholic Schools through the following initiatives:
Succession Planning
Through succession management, ongoing processes have been developed
which systematically promote, identify and assess leadership capability
of staff to meet future school and District needs.
Leadership Development Programs
Leadership Services had designed programs and meet the needs of
staff at all levels of their leadership journey. The leadership
development programs include:
Leadership Formation and Training Program - a
program for staff looking at school-based leadership for the first
time.
Principal Training Program - an initiative for
assistant principals who show readiness for appointment to the principalship
in the near future.
New Principals' Training Program - a program that
provides training, support and mentorship to first year principals.
New Assistant Training Program - an initiative
which provides encouragement and collegial support for first year
assistant principals. Participants gain knowledge and understanding
of all departments and functions of the District.
Catholic Educational Leadership Professional
Development Initiative
This initiative includes a systematic examination of the Role of
the Principal as Catholic Educational Leader. This comprehensive
and ongoing professional development program is designed for principals,
assistant principals and senior administration. Through reflection,
professional dialogue and literature, the participants are guided
to gain greater insight and understanding of how their faith permeates
their role as Catholic educational leaders.
This examination is facilitated through monthly professional development
workshops that are planned, organized and presented by practicing
principals. Yearly, the October Leadership Academy provides opportunities
for in-depth examination and analysis of topics pertinent to Catholic
Educational Leaders.
Selection of School Based Administrators
Utilizing effective and efficient assessment strategies, candidates
are screened to facilitate the creation of assistant principal and
principal leadership pools. The quality and diversity of the members
of the leadership pools ensure that we will have capable and competent
Catholic Educational Leaders to meet our future needs.
Assigned Responsibilities:
"Leadership and learning are indispensable of
each other."
