Who is it for?
It's for practicing educators interested in playing a leadership role in the use of educational Information Technology at the classroom, school, college and/or district level. Teachers must be employed by a school district or college and have a minimum of 2 years teaching experience.
What is it?
It's a two year Masters of Education program consisting of eight core courses (21 credits + 3 credit capping project) & two options (6 credits).
Options may vary widely depending on individual student interest.
How is it delivered?
The program is designed for working professionals and has been structured to allow participants to complete their Master's degree without taking time off from work. The core courses are delivered as follows: two are delivered in a conventional "face-to-face" mode in first summer of the program; three core courses are delivered using on-line technologies during the following fall, winter and spring; two more core courses are delivered in a "face-to-face" mode during the second summer and the remaining core course, the capping project is done on line during the second year. The delivery of the option courses will depend on the courses selected.
How many participants will be accepted?
Each intake is limited to a 20 participants. The successful applicants will start their program in July and take the core courses as a cohort.
What computer background is required?
The program is designed to accept participants with a wide range of experience with computer technology. Students must have a good grasp of basic computer skills (e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and Internet searching) and at least a minimal working knowledge of computers in an educational setting.
What are the registration deadlines?
The registration deadline for the 2006 Cohort is April 1, 2006. The 2006 Cohort summer residency will run from July 4 to July 28 (4 weeks).
