Assessment for Learning - Project Focus

The Assessment For Learning Project began in 1998 as a district initiative with the major goal to help develop the capacity at the school and district level to manage and implement change that enhances student learning.

This initiative involves all district schools and departments.

Specifically, Assessment For Learning promotes an ongoing awareness and development of good teaching practices including assessment literacy, mananging change and innovative planning. Leadership Teams and their staffs process these key questions:

  • How is the classroom changing?
  • Why are we assessing in a more comprehensive way?
  • How do we engage students in their own self-assessment?
  • What are the principles and mindshifts needed?
  • Who benefits the most from placing assessment in the forefront?
